Evaluation of newer diagnostic tests for tuberculosis.

Description

Tuberculosis (TB) is a public health problem of global importance. Because conventional diagnostic tests for tuberculosis have several limitations, much effort has been directed towards the development of newer, rapid diagnostic tools, including nucleic acid amplification (NAA) tests, and in-vitro, interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) assays. This dissertation focuses on investigations to evaluate the accuracy and role of these newer tests using synthesis of previous research, and original research in a high incidence country.
